Poodles have always been apart of my life, even before I was born. Mum used to show and breed white miniatures back in the early 60's under the "ZILLARA" prefix before my sister and I came along. I guess you could say it is in the blood.
After I moved out of home I "had to have" my own poodle. Not just any poodle he had to be a show dog. I was fortunate enough to meet Phillip and Yenice Brockway “Yendale" who passed my name onto Carol Vimpany “Vivara” who sold me a black toy, Aust Ch. Vivara Stand & Cheer (Zippa). I was hooked! I showed Zip to his title and continued for several years with some very exciting wins along the way. The most memorable being Best of Breed at the 1998 Melbourne Royal.
It was after this Melbourne Royal win that I was made an offer I couldn't refuse, partnership in a "Dootwa" toy poodle. Along came Aust Ch. Dootwa Vandal Tracker (Vandal). Vandal was 9mths old when he came to me with no ring experience. His first show was at Young where he won BOB and Puppy in Group. His career just grew from there winning, BIG’s, RUBIG’s, classes in group and in show and a Best In Show. A sincere thank you goes to Carol Woodward "Dootwa Poodles" for allowing me the opportunity to share my life with this wonderful little man. My shadow.
Clive and I moved from Canberra to the lower Hunter in 2001. Big mistake! More room - more poodles. I was in my element. I decided to branch out into miniatures as well and imported a bitch from the "Kateisha" Kennels in New Zealand, Kateisha Sweet Baby (Macy). She is truly a beautiful girl who produced my first champion miniature poodle Aust Ch. Zillara Miss Dior (Paris) who posses her mum’s good looks and sweet nature.
Within a short while along came Wilken Zip Code (Cody) and Wilken In Vogue (Lucy) - Zippa son and daughter. It is here that I must say a BIG Thank You to Marea and Lenny Williams “Wilken” for allowing me to use their beautiful little girl Aust Ch. Wilken Marie Clare to produce these two wonderful little dogs. Lucy is mum to my first homebred toy Aus Ch. Zillara Kaos by Vandal (Kaos). A very stylish, well balanced dog that is following very closely in his father’s footsteps.
Next to arrive was Aust Ch Crystallee Art Work (Blade) whom is owned in partnership with Narelle Podmore “Crystallee” miniature poodles. Narelle and her husband Kevin are not only close friends but also my mentors. They have taught, guided, inspired and challenged me in so many ways. Saying thank you to them never seems to be enough. Blade has now produced her first baby to enter the ring Zillara Just A Girl (Jag) sired by Rachel and Jamie Pajtl’s “Elire” Aus Ch. Jayess Black Onyx.
The list of poodles and champions continues to grow. Too many to name here individully but they all have a very special place in my heart, even the ones who didn't make it into the show ring. I have been very blessed to have owned so many beautiful poodles. I hope you enjoy looking at my web site.
